A hypnosis MP3 that incorporates simple techniques that you can use on a daily basis to bring your body out of stress and into rest and relaxation. I originally started writing this after Embrace Fertility members asked for support to cope with the heartache of a failed cycle. However I decided to keep the language open so that this track is suitable at any time you want to bring more balance to your life and allow your body to relax deeply. Also perfect if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or upset.
I will guide you through four techniques within the recording, three of which incorporate holding acupressure points that bring comfort to the body and one that can be used to ease physical discomfort as well as emotional upset. This is a simple trick we can play on the mind to instruct it to relax and unwind. Includes my self soothers guidance video, which demonstrates the techniques used in the MP3s and can be used as stand-alone techniques whenever you feel out of balance. Emotional Freedom Anyone?
I also recommend trying emotional freedom technique (EFT Tapping) which is a type of meridian tapping that combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology with startling results. EFT allows you to tune into and express exactly how are you feeling in the moment and release those emotions and thought patterns that are not serving you.
When I first read about this technique I thought it was extremely bizarre and could not possibly work but I was determined to do everything in my power to feel better so if tapping on my face might help it was worth giving it a go.
I started tapping on my beliefs and fears and I started feeling differently about things that I thought were set in stone and gradually it felt like I stepped into the sunlight after spending a long time in a darkened room. Mindfulness and CBT have taught me to recognise that I am not my thinking and that it is the thoughts we have about situations not the situations themselves that cause us distress. EFT is the next piece of the puzzle to allow you to cut the ties to repetitive negative thinking.
Research at Harvard Medical School has shown that stimulation of selected meridian acupoints decreases activity in the amygdala, hippocampus and other parts of the brain associated with fear. A separate study by researcher Dawson Church, Ph.D. looked at a different component of the fight or flight reaction: cortisol levels. In a randomised controlled trial Church found that EFT lowered cortisol levels.
EFT is already being used in the National Health Service in the UK (NHS) and Therese McGoldrick, a behavioural psychotherapist who works for the NHS states: “EFT is very effective where there’s been traumatic experience. It also works well for grief, phobias and some pain conditions.”
