Hi I’m Naomi. After my first round of fertility treatment failed I was exhausted, depressed and was having panic attacks. My fertility clinic suggested that I undertake an eight-week mindfulness-based stress reduction course. I did and the result has been life changing. The course opened my eyes to how our thoughts and feelings shape our lives and how our bodies respond to our thinking, anxious thinking = anxious body.
I left my career in furniture design to focus on myself and my health and began reading everything I could on the mindbody link. I set up Embrace Fertility to share all that I am learning and to connect to others interested in this subject. I became a Fertility Network UK volunteer and ran a free central London fertility support group as well as my online group which is open to anyone who is trying to conceive, going through fertility treatment or who is now pregnant following difficulties.
As part of the Fertility Network volunteer training I attended a counselling and listening skills workshop and at the end of the day Christine, the course leader, complimented me and asked if I had considered working with people one-to-one. The seed was planted.
I attended an 8 Week mindfulness based cognitive behaviour course to solidify my own practice and to deepen my understanding and completed my Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) practitioner training in September 2013 with Emma Roberts and Sue Beer who contributed to the book The Babymaking Bible. I then trained in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Cognitive Hypnotherapy at the renowned Quest Institute in London.
I have been blogging about my own personal fertility journey since April 2013 check out the inspiration section to read blogs on heartache, jealousy, relationships, friendships and more. Read ‘The 46th Month is the charm’ for the potted version. Baby Woolfson joined us in June 2015 and Baby number 2 June 2017 both natural conceptions after years of fertility treatments and a miscarriage. Read my blog ‘0 to 6 babies in 4 years!’
